Moka Pot brewing guide

Moka Pot Brewing Steps:

  1. Start by grinding out your coffee to a medium texture and fill your Moka Pot basket making sure to level it off but not tamping it down.
  2. There are two ways to approach adding the water with my recommendation being to boil the water first then fill the bottom compartment up to just below the valve, before carefully using your tea towel to place the coffee basket in and screw the top part on. This means that the brewing process will start almost immediately when you place on the heat. Alternatively, you can fill with cold water and use the stove top to heat the water to avoid handling boiling water but some of the coffee flavour will escape in the steam vapor as the Moka Pot is heating up.
  3. Once the water is in the Moka pot and it’s all reassembled you can then place onto the stove top and turn on the high heat. You’re looking to heat the pot up until you start to hear the coffee bubble out into the top compartment where you can then turn off the heat as the residual heat and pressure will force the water through the remaining coffee and into the top compartment.
  4. Once the coffee has fully extracted you can then pour your Stove Top made coffee into your cup as it will be ready to drink.
